Cathkin Relief Road

Scope of Works: The works consisted of the construction of a new 1.6km length of single lane 7.3m wide carriageway between the Cathkin By-pass and Mill Street, Rutherglen. It included the creation of 3 new junctions at Burnside Rd / Cathkin By-pass, Fernhill Road and Croftfoot Road / Mill Street / Blairbeth Road.

 

The works involved major earthworks involving soil modification and stabilised capping, carriageway drainage, carriageway construction and soft landscaping.

 

Constraints: The exposure of the subsoil material was a major source of potentially generated silts and sediment, invasive plant species on site, restricted site with one access/egress
