About us
RJT Excavations Limited (RJT), formed in 1989 by Robert James Turnbull as an earthworks and general groundwork’s contractor based at Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, grew from humble beginnings to be rated independently by the New Civil Engineer (2009) as one of the UK’s top 75 Civil Engineering Contractors.
RJT is at the forefront of specialised plant and equipment, bulk earthworks, groundwork’s, stabilisation, remediation, contract crushing and other plant orientated activities.
We now provide national coverage from our main yard at Jedburgh and our regional office at Northampton.
Core Values and Objectives:
- Safety – always adopt a safety first approach and zero tolerance of accidents.
- Environment – use our knowledge and expertise to deliver environmental savings and help wherever possible to reduce our carbon foot print.
- Quality – deliver top quality first time.
- Training – train our staff and workforce to develop their skills, abilities and awareness of the contractual and legal requirements of the work we do.
- Teamwork – always have a “can do” attitude and culture that is customer focused, recognizing that our relationships with customers and clients are the cornerstone of our business.
- Technology – use the most efficient systems and equipment available.
- Financial responsibility – fair reward for hard work, commitment, and delivery.
- Integrity- grow our business with openness and honesty with our clients giving them the benefit our family values.
Safety, Quality and Environmental issues have top priority at RJT. We have well established procedures and accreditation – ISO 9001, OHSAS18001, and 14001 – to ensure we manage all of our work activities to high and nationally recognised standards.
Each of our site supervisors has passed the 5 day CITB site manager’s safety course, and is trained to level 3NVQ for supervision of construction activities. All our managers and employees have attained the relevant CSCS and CPCS skills cards for the tasks they perform.
At RJT we directly employ our own Health, Safety and Training Manager and operate a CITB accredited training centre, with in-house instructors and assessors providing training in compliance with Construction Skills. Having our own training facility enables us to react quickly and efficiently to the ever changing requirements and needs of the Construction Industry.
Our systems for training and development of our workforce with CITB accredited instructors and assessors enables us to constantly monitor the competency and adequacy of operators thus provide the necessary knowledge and skills to implement and comply with all health, safety, environmental legislation and best practice.
RJT employs WAMITAB qualified managers to provide advice and practical input to help reduce the carbon footprint of construction work. We can provide or assist with development of waste management and surface water management plans and have knowledge and expertise in remediation and recycling, which can achieve cost savings as well as environmental benefits.
If you have earthwork or plant requirements or just want budget costs or advice, early contact with RJT will help you to deliver the most cost effective and suitable solution for your sites.
